Becki Newton is taking TV by storm as Amanda on the ABC hit series "Ugly Betty." Before "Ugly Betty," Newton was the host of the TBS celebrity interview show "Movie Junky." She has had guest appearances on such series as "Charmed," "Law & Order: SVU," "Cold Case," "American Dreams," "The Men's Room" and "The Commuters."
Newton started her acting career as a child in Guilford, Connecticut, participating in local theater and musical productions. She then took her talents to the New York theater district, where she starred in "Deer in Headlights," "Upon Arrival" and "Against Type." She also recently appeared in the feature "August Rush," opposite Robin Williams and Keri Russell.
Newton graduated from UPENN with a degree in European History. She is fluent in Spanish and proficient in German, Greek and Danish. She can also add award-winning violinist and singer to her credits.
In her spare time, Newton enjoys running and training for marathons.
