COURTNEY THORNE-SMITH
Cheryl on the ABC Television Network's "According to Jim"

As one of television's most enduring talents, Courtney Thorne-Smith has done the near impossible three times over, starring in consecutive hit TV shows for the past 15 years. On ABC's "According to Jim," now entering its eighth season, she plays the feisty and charismatic wife to Jim Belushi. Previously, her role as Georgia in the Emmy-winning series "Ally McBeal" solidified her as a top television personality. With her portrayal of Allison Parker in the much-loved primetime drama "Melrose Place," Thorne-Smith first gained international attention during her five-season run.

One of primetime's most adored actresses, Thorne-Smith has set out to conquer the literary world as well. Her first novel, entitled Outside In, will hit book shelves this year. As a writer, she has also spoken out about core women's issues such as body image and healthy living in feature articles for In Style, Allure and SELF magazine -- on which she also served as a contributing editor.

Thorne-Smith is no stranger to the big screen. After being discovered in an open casting call in her native San Francisco, she starred as Charlie Sheen's girlfriend in her first film, the much-loved "Lucas." She then moved to Los Angeles and went on to appear in such films as "Summer School," "Revenge of the Nerds II" and "Side Out," among others. Additional television credits include starring roles in the NBC series "Day by Day" and the series version of "Fast Times at Ridgemont High." She also played a recurring role on "LA Law," guest starred on "Spin City" and "Anything But Love," and starred in the television films "Beauty's Revenge," "Tour of Duty," First Flight" and "Infidelity."

Serving as a celebrity spokesperson, Thorne-Smith acted as the face of Almay Cosmetics and was honored to represent the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation for two years through a variety of activities, including appearing on the cover of "Special K" and "Smart Start" cereals. In addition, she has collaborated with various animal rescue organizations as well as PAWS/LA, a group dedicated to helping HIV patients to keep and care for their pets. With her philanthropic work in women's issues and animal rights, Thorne-Smith's commitment to pro-social causes is a cornerstone of her public identity.
